This morning, I read Smitten Kitchen’s awesome (as always) post on chicken noodle soup, which reminded me of one afternoon when I was maybe six or seven. Somehow I discovered a copy of Maurice Sendak’s Chicken Soup With Rice, and read it over and over again lying in the top bunk bed in my bedroom at my parents house. Somehow that book disappeared again, and I’d never seen it since. But this morning I was inspired to do a quick search for it. Not only did I find it readily available on Amazon, but I also found a video of it being read on youtube. And it’s just as charming as I remembered.
Apparently there’s also a version set to music:
And now I need to go make some chicken soup with rice.
